TheEnglish popand soul band, founded in 1985, is marking its 40th anniversary by going on tour—much to the delight of fans who still count Hucknall's powerful, soulful voice as one of the most unique and era-defining sounds to come out of the1980s music scene. The band announced the tour with a social media post that has fans joining a singalong of its biggest hit, "Holding Back the Years." The famed ginger-haired English singer belts out the song, leaving fans stunned by just how good he sounds. As if no time has passed since the band's heyday, Hucknall's gritty voice still holds the same power and raw emotion. Fans didn't miss a beat—singing along with Hucknall in the video and at home (guilty)—with one fan after the next celebrating the chance to be transported back to the '80s when the world first discovered Hucknall's distinctive sound. "Voice is still perfection," shared one fan, echoed by another who added, "I'd sell my left kidney to witness this man live." "Sounds as good as it did in 1986. Fans hoping to catch Simply Red's 40th anniversary tour (no kidney donation required) can see the band live starting September 13, 2025, at the Ombak Festival in Malaysia. From there, Simply Red will tour Europe through the end of November. Stops on the tour include France, Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Holland.
