Denise Truscello/WireImage Ray J revealed the details of how he found out about Whitney Houston's untimely death and denied rumors that he played any role in it on theFunky Fridaypodcast on July 25 He confirmed they had been in a relationship at the time, but he wasn't with the famed vocalist when she died, as he had a show in San Diego The musician noted that after her death, he was the target of online abuse from people who accused him of killing her Ray Jis opening up aboutWhitney Houston's untimely death. The 44-year-old singer and songwriter (born William Ray Norwood, Jr.) revealed the details of how he found out about Houston'sdeathand denied rumors that he played any role in it while on Cam Newton'sFunky Fridaypodcaston Friday, July 25. Houston died by accidental drowning on Feb. 11, 2012, the day before theGrammy Awards, in her hotel room, according to an autopsy report. Heart disease and cocaine use were listed as contributing factors in her death. The "One Wish" singer — who confirmed that he was dating Houston around the time of her death — denied rumors that he had been there with her "in the room when she died," saying, "That's the biggest cap I've ever heard. I've heard it since the beginning." Thaddaeus McAdams/Getty He shared that had been "in San Diego doing a show" and planned to attend a "Clive Davis event" with her "the next day" where they were going to publicly announce their relationship. However, he said things took a turn for the worse when he got to her hotel. "When I [pulled] up I got my shoes. I'm ready to go to the event. I just talked to her on the phone," he recalled. "[But] she's not there no more. It's over, and Ray, who is her bodyguard, he found her, and he called me." "They did not let me [go up to her hotel room] at first until everything was cleared and it was just the family," he continued. "That's when I was able to go upstairs and see the family. This is you talking like late, late at night." He noted that initial reports confused Houston's bodyguard with him due to their similar names, and claims that since then, he has been accused online of killing the "I Will Always Love You" singer. But he said that could not be further from the truth. "I was nowhere to be found, and I hate talking about it because I have so much love for her. I've never seen her in that state," he continued later on in the interview. "So to make me that person when I wasn't even there and then to put murderer on top of that… it's f----- up." During the interview, Ray J also dodged a question from Newton about whether he saw the "I Have Nothing" singer take drugs, but cleared the air on whether he had done drugs with her. Charley Gallay/AMA2009/Getty "I've never done one drug with Whitney, and when people asked me, 'Did Whitney do drugs?'… everybody knows certain answers," he said. "I can tell you about me. I was so f------ up after that s--- happened, I tried hard drugs for the first time after that s--- happened because I was just like I don't know what was going on, bro. I was totally in awe of it." However, the musician noted that "it was nothing but good times" with Houston, whom he met through his sisterBrandy, 46. He said when he first met her they "just started bonding" and were "locked in for a long time." "I love Whitney. I was with Whitney every f------ day. She was one of the most important people to me," Ray J shared. Read the original article onPeople

Sean 'Diddy' Combs argues for jail release on $50 million bond ahead of sentencingNew Foto - Sean 'Diddy' Combs argues for jail release on $50 million bond ahead of sentencing

Sean "Diddy" Combs'legal team is again arguing for his release from federal prison, nearly two months after the embattled music mogul was acquitted of the most serious charges in his federal sex-crimes trial. According to legal documents reviewed by USA TODAY, Combs' lawyers asked Judge Arun Subramanian on Tuesday, July 29, to release Combs on a $50 million bond and allow him to live in his Miami mansion — instead of the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn — as he awaits sentencing in October. Though the12-person juryon July 2convicted the Bad Boy Records founderon thetwo more minor countsof transportation to engage in prostitution, jurors found Combs not guilty ofracketeeringand sex trafficking in hissweeping, nearly two-month trial. Diddy trial verdict recap:Judge denies bail request; Cassie calls Diddy a threat The two guilty counts — which concern his relationships with ex-girlfriendsCasandra Ventura Fineand an anonymous "Jane" — carry a maximum penalty of10 years in prisonon each count. Prosecutors, though, have signaled that Combs himself may face a lesser time due to federal sentencing guidelines. After the jury's verdict,Subramanian denied bail for Combsand ordered for him to remain in jail, suggesting a sentencing hearing in October but left the door open for an expedited court date. "It is impossible for the defendant to demonstrate by clear and convincing evidence that he poses no danger," Subramanian previously said. Combs has been jailed sincehis September arrestand has maintained his innocence, previouslypleading not guiltyto all charges. In apost-verdict hearing, Subramanian explained that Jane's testimony, in which she alleged Combschoked and dragged herduring an argument in June 2024 (even as Combs was aware of the active federal investigation into his conduct), played into his decision. He also noted that Combs' team admitted that "we own the domestic violence," regardingVentura Fine's longstanding allegations of long-term abuse, first detailed in aNovember 2023 civil lawsuit. In court, lawyers for Combs argued that he was responsible for physical abuse towards romantic partners, but not guilty of federal crimes such as sex trafficking. His legal team asserted their client did engage in violent acts towards Ventura Fine, but the "Me & U" hitmaker was a willing sexual partner and participant inhourslong sex sessions dubbed "freak offs." Armed bystander who helped confront Walmart stabbing suspect speaks outNew Foto - Armed bystander who helped confront Walmart stabbing suspect speaks out

A former Marine who helped confront the suspect in astabbing rampageat a Walmart in Michigan is speaking out in an exclusive broadcast interview after the terrifying incident that authorities said was an act of terrorism. Nearly a dozen people were randomly injured in the attack on Saturday before a group of citizens -- including Derrick Perry, who was armed with a gun -- helped prevent the suspect from leaving or harming others, authorities said. "I didn't think of anything other than trying to get him away from people and get him isolated and get him to put the knife down and just to kind of focus on me instead of everyone that was yelling and screaming in the background," Perry, a married father of three, told "Good Morning America" on Monday. The suspect allegedly entered the Walmart store in Traverse City, about 150 miles north of Grand Rapids, Saturday afternoon and began attacking people with a folding knife, authorities said. "It appears that these were all random acts," Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea said at a news conference on Sunday afternoon, adding that the attacks began near the checkout area. The victims range in age from 29 to 84 and include a Walmart employee, Shea said. MORE: Authorities were searching for Walmart stabbing suspect prior to incident A group of citizens, including a firearm-wielding Perry, confronted the suspect in the parking lot in a dramatic scene that was captured on video by a bystander. A deputy then took the suspect -- 42-year-old Bradford James Gille -- into custody, authorities said. "I commend them," Shea said of the citizens who helped. "It's not very often that we have citizens that are willing to step up and take action." Gille was formally charged Monday with one count of terrorism and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder. He did not enter a plea during his arraignment, and a judge overseeing the hearing said an attorney will be appointed to represent him. MORE: Good Samaritan speaks out after stopping couple from 'dumping' kittens in dirt field Magistrate Tammi Rodgers set Gille's bail at $100,000 cash and ordered him to return to court for a probable cause hearing on Aug. 6 and a preliminary hearing on Aug. 12. The magistrate granted the prosecutor's request for high bail for Gille, alleging that he had committed "one of the most serious crimes that one could commit in the state of Michigan." Prosecutors said each charge against Gille carries a possible life sentence if he is convicted.
